Great House Echoes.

This project centres on the Caribbean plantation Great House. An obvious fact that had escaped me when first mapping out this project is that for every estate/plantation, there would have been a Great house standing on it.

After all, that is the dwelling place of the estate owner who would have wanted to show the world his wealth and importance by building the most luxurious home fit to entertain important local and international dignitaries.

Today, these places are either tourist attractions, heritage sites or, in some cases, private residences still owned by the descendants of the original slave-owning masters.
